Cervical Length Scans

Peace of mind for expectant mothers from 14 weeks. This scan is usually performed during pregnancy to assess the risk of preterm birth.

Peace Of Mind During Your Pregnancy

A cervical length scan is a prenatal test that assesses the length of your cervix to determine if it is prepared for the birth of your baby. During most of your pregnancy, your cervix remains closed and will only begin to open when your body is ready for delivery.

If your cervix is shorter than the usual length of 25mm, you may be at risk of preterm birth. This can be a concern for pregnant women who want to prevent preterm birth.

The scan will analyze the length of your cervix, as well as the dilation and location of the cervical suture (if present). If you are pregnant with twins, the length of your cervix is particularly significant. The best way to measure the cervix is through a transvaginal ultrasound. The ultrasound transducer used in this screening test is designed to be painless.
